Abel Tasman National Park

So that we weren't driving all the time, we took a cruise from Nelson to Abel Tasman National Park on February 10.

We cruised by Adele Island where there were plenty of southern fur seals

The cruise made me seasick but once we got on land, we had to hike about 10.5 kilometers (from Medlands Bay to Anchorage) in 3 hours and 50 minutes (the boat had a specific pick up time). For the first time since we've been in New Zealand, we did the hike in less than the estimated time....maybe we are finally getting in shape! Or, it might have been the thought of being stranded at the park that made us double time it.

We made it to Anchorage in 3 hours and 20 minutes

The day didn't end after this activity. Once we got back to Nelson, we drove 3.5 hours to Westport - another crazy drive with one lane bridges and curvy roads. It was the worst of them so far but we survived and rewarded ourselves with a bottle of wine upon arrival at the hostel.
